Gorton and Denton By‑Election
A by‑election will take place in the Gorton and Denton constituency on Thursday 26 February.

Eligible electors - British, Irish, or qualifying Commonwealth citizens aged 18 or over - include anyone registered to vote (including overseas electors) in the following wards:
Manchester
- Burnage (full ward)
- Gorton and Abbey Hey (full ward)
- Longsight (full ward)
- Levenshulme (full ward)
Tameside
- Denton North East (part ward)
- Denton North West (full ward)
- Denton South (full ward)
- Audenshaw (part ward)
Voter ID
You must show an accepted form of photo ID to vote at a polling station.

Emergency Proxies
If an emergency stops you voting in person, you may be able to choose someone to vote for you. This is called a ‘proxy’.
You can still apply for an emergency proxy vote if a last‑minute situation arises in very specific circumstances. This includes:
Your photo ID is lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged
The emergency must have occurred after 5pm on 18 February 2026.

- Email the completed form to esu@manchester.gov.uk.
- Deadline to apply: 5pm on 26 February 2026.
